YouTube Data API Key Step-by-Step

Some things we will need to have before starting this.

  • Google Username (usually an @gmail.com email address)
  • The password to go with the username above
  • If the client has 2-step or SMS Verification set up on their account, that will either need to be disabled or the client will need to be available to provide the relevant login code.

1. Head over to https://developers.google.com

3. Click YouTube Data API on the right underneath the YouTube APIs header
4. Click `Enable` in the top of the next screen

5. You should now see the following screen. From here, click `Credentials` on the left.

6. From here, click `Create Credentials`.

7. Select `API Key` from the dropdown.

8. You have now created an API key for the client in their google account. Copy the created key and add it to pivotal for the developer! Well done!
